Please explain how a person can know they have eternal life, if, as some Church of Christ ministers assert, that we don't get eternal life until this life is over and we are judged to be faithful. This question probably has reference to 1 John 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Those who espouse the doctrine of Calvinism assert that since this verse says we "have eternal life," and since "eternal" means "never ending," then those who are saved are not in danger of losing their salvation (cannot possibly be lost), otherwise, eternal would not mean "never ending." From this, assertion is made that we have eternal life "now" and will not be received in the future when this life is over.

Just keep on keeping on! Truly the pen is mightier than the sword!"
